Brain is Full
Already, this is a busy week, and my brain is full.
I’m working on several things for my PhD dissertation:
- Arranging a conference call with my mentor and the rest of my committee
- Getting my Institutional Review Board (IRB) paperwork approved
- Arranging interviews with my research participants (these people used to be called ’subjects,’ but that didn’t sound democratic enough)
In addition to that, I start teaching two new courses over the next week or so, so class prep is taking up plenty of time this week. I spent all day yesterday grading papers from a Masters-level course that just started on Saturday.
The most amazing thing about this, though, is that it is invigorating. I find that I still have time for faith, for my family, and for my friends, even in the midst of the busy-ness. I wonder if that’s not part of the nature of calling.
Enough for now. To steal a line from the movie The Green Pastures, “I’ve got about a hundred thousand things to do before you take your next breath.”
